One of the very first members of the Digital Dukaandaar program, Mukul Mishra, belonged to a small town of Mahu, near Indore in Madhya Pradesh, India. He came from a family that owned a construction business. His future was destined to be in the same industry. He pursued his education in Civil Engineering and also completed his masters in Advanced Construction Management. But his desire to stay close to his roots & his family pushed him to say no to all the job offers that he was getting from other countries like Dubai.
“My father had been in the construction business for the last 40 years and that was also my initial plan after giving up those job offers. But life had something different planned.”
He took a job in India and slowly grew up the ladder. Eventually, he started his own construction company. However, the timing couldn’t be worse. Many external factors sent the industry into a downward loop and there was no scope of growth. His earnings completely stopped & he began to worry. But instead of giving up, he decided to try something new. He started watching & learning through YouTube videos to learn from a variety of coaches & entrepreneurs.
“At that time I had no idea that this was just a beginning of a new transformational journey for me. I tried reselling on different apps like Mesho and Whoopler. Within 3 months, I was a top reseller on such apps. That took care of my cash requirements for a short while.”
He also realised that with so little knowledge about the products, he was able to spread so much happiness among his customers and the process, in turn, was making him happier as well. After some research, he realised that this process is called Drop Shipping & that was the time when he landed on a Digital Dukaandaar advertisement on one of his regular Google searches on “How to make money online”. He didn’t give it a second thought and enrolled for the webinar followed by the course.
“I think what I found the most amusing about the process was that I was selling products that I had no idea about, to customers I didn’t know. That was a very awkward but entertaining realisation. I entered the space with a lot of excitement & focus.”
His first Print On Demand (POD) store went live within 15 days of joining the course, but due to some issues, he took some time to figure out the person who could fulfil his orders. Despite his struggles, he was elated when he got his first order. The fact that someone in the USA was wearing his t-shirt design completely blew his mind. Slowly and steadily, he built his store and a few more designs. Although sales started coming in, his store was not yet profitable.
“I was very disappointed. There came a time when I had very little money left in my account and I wanted to give up. But Nishkarsh, his team & my wife played a big role in helping me realise that I was very happy doing this. That’s when I decided to give it one more try.”
With what could have been his last try, he learnt that he has to go all out and take the necessary risks and launch more designs in one go. He found the motivation to launch more designs, crossed the first $100 mark in sales and went at it with full force.
“That was the day I realised that I have to go after my happiness and not the money or the sales & turnover.”
After that, there was no looking back. He joined mastermind sessions, explored support opportunities in the group and rectified his mistakes. He realised that he needs to have multiple winning designs to have enough money to test the other designs. He followed this mantra and let go of all his fears about putting in more money. Within a month, he was able to recover all his losses. Currently, he owns three stores of his own.
“I was never into numbers but when I went to my CA, he told me that my company had an (INR)2 crore turnover, something that my father’s construction company hadn’t been able to do in the last 3 years. But the truth is I was never in it for the numbers. I was there for the love of it.”
In almost 2.5 years, Mukul has gone from very little money in his account to almost $700,000 in sales. His journey has been filled with massive learnings and experience. He believes that this is the best thing that could have ever happened to him because not only is he happy and satisfied with his life, he is also making great money and he gets to be close to his family. Mukul feels that his journey was made possible because he had the guidance of experts from the industry who had travelled the path before. He feels he has come a long way and evolved through the learnings in his journey. He has also joined Digital Dukaandaar as a coach now.
